You may be wondering whether it’s all right to go to physical therapy.
- First, doctor’s appointments and treatments are NOT the type of activity that we are being asked to limit in Georgia. Our appointments involve extremely limited contact and are mostly conducted one-on-one.
- Secondly, physical therapy treatment that improves your independence, function, safety, comfort and overall well-being is a positive factor in your protection from coronavirus.
We believe it is safe to provide you with hands-on physical therapy, and we are confident that our cleaning procedures can keep our clinic safe. We are enforcing standards of disinfection and social distancing that are much more effective and consistent than in homes!
LIMITING CONTACT:
Employees of Decatur Physical Therapy will not be in the office if they have any symptoms of illness, including coughing or fever, OR if they have been in contact with a person infected with Coronavirus. In addition, patients with symptoms of illness are asked to stay at home.
WAITING ROOM CHANGES:
- Most patients are taken immediately to a private room. Patients who enter the office before private space is available will be asked to return to the outer lobby to wait.
- Patients are asked to NOT bring additional individuals with to an appointment unless their assistance is necessary.
CLEANING/SANITIZATION:
- Our physical therapy staff practices medically recommended hand and wrist hygiene between every patient interaction. Office staff are doing the same each time they leave and return to their desks.
- We use a hospital grade disinfectant on all treatment tables between each patient, and we use the same disinfectant to clean equipment used in physical therapy. We use bleach-based products and wipes (which the CDC states is effective in killing the coronavirus) to clean our bathroom.
- Handles, knobs, electronics and anything patients might touch are cleaned frequently and thoroughly.
- All towels and pillowcases are used only once, then laundered. We treat the pillow protectors with disinfectant between patients as well.
